I See Pictures.Com

Born and raised in the capital of the Universe (Brooklyn, New York) as a young boy I have always had an eye for seeing things that others did not or would not dare to admit to. As far back as I could recall, drawing has always been a natural thing for me. Being interested in history and science at an early age, I wanted to be an archaeologist then an astronaut, then a commercial artist and finally a United States Marine! The idea of becoming a Marine happened when the Iranian government took 52 Americans and held them as hostages. This happened back in 1989 and I think a lot of people forgot this ever happening.

Anyway, the youngest out of seven children, I was always being challenged to out do my brothers and sisters. My mother a Mexican-Irish and my father a proud Puerto Rican were always aware of my artistic skills. This was in part due to the fact that I was drawing every chance that I could. I recall one of the first times I started to see pictures. I was looking at crackes in the ceiling of my bedroom, and I would see shapes that appeared to be faces in them. It was kind of like looking up in the sky, at the clouds and seeing images appear and disappear before you. That's when I really started to see pictures; maybe being of Mexican, Irish and Puerto Rican decent may have had something to do with it.

At the age of nine I was trained in the use of many classic mediums and styles of illustration while I was attending Pratt Institute in Brooklyn New York. Attending this school was only possible by the relentless efforts and thankful encouragement of my 3rd grade teacher, Mr. Carl Sanfillipo. During this time I learned many of the illustrative hand skills that I have today. Later attending the High School of Art and Design located in New York, New York is where I was exposed to many more different art styles and techniques. This is also where I really learned the use of color and composition and most of all surrealism.

After serving honorably in the U.S. Marines for ten years I later moved to Philadelphia, PA where I received my degree in visual communication from the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Now living in Philadelphia for over 15 years I am a family man with three daughters, a wife, a cat and two tanks full of fresh water fish. I keep myself busy by painting, gardening and working on my web site. Today I am able to paint, design and illustrate using a computer (both PC and Mac platform) therefore this also makes me a digital artist. I welcome everyone to my web site and the chance to enjoy my visions, I am sure when you see my art work you will see pictures!
